Well it’s that time of year again where we all get into a frenzy, a mad rush and stressed beyond belief as we try to prepare and take on all the shenanigans that come with Christmas.
Last year I introduced the idea of cultivating a stress-free Christmas which is essential for your well-being. The guidelines will remain the same as it always does for any stressful condition that you are trying to cope with or move away from.
An awareness of what pushes your buttons, the desire to have more peace internally and externally in your life and taking steps to overcome and let go of the stress will bring you that inner peace, more joy and contentment in your life.
The key here is having the awareness in the first place. Who or what is going to push your buttons? How do you fit in those extra jobs that have to be done before Christmas Day in your already busy stressful life? And what kind of day do you want to create? When you are aware of these things then it is easier to bring that into your life. You can make better decisions on how to cope with those button pushers, be they circumstances or people, how to organise your time to get those jobs done before Christmas Day, and then you can decide what kind of day you want on the big day and is there anything you need to put into place to ensure or at least try to achieve the kind of day you want to have.
The choices we make today affect the days that are coming. So if you know a particular relative is going to be difficult maybe you can practice having patience with them before they arrive. Visualising how are you would like things to be can go a long way to dissolving tensions.
And don’t forget some of those stress busting tools that I have given you over the year. The breathing techniques to help clear your mind and release tension, taking a nice hot bath with some soothing oils to release the tension in your muscles and your back, and taking time out for yourself by having a rest whenever you can fit it in or schedule it in, even better.
