Summertime and the living is easy … so goes that lovely melody.

Well, we certainly had a taste of some fierce heat last week which gave us a real taste of summer at long last! Did you enjoy it?  Are you enjoying summertime altogether? The beautiful display of the abundance of flowers this country has; the immense greenery from all our trees whether they are in our gardens, parks or countryside; the delicious fruits and veg? Remembering to stay centred and in touch with what is around you is so good for your sense of well-being.

Whether it’s spring, summer, autumn or winter learning to be mindful and in the present moment allows you to get the most of your life. When you are in the present moment you are in a place of gratitude and therefore in appreciation of what’s around you and find something to feel good about.

Savour those strawberries, smell those roses and really see those trees. Does that make you feel better? What about a great colourful green salad or an even more colourful fruit salad. As you appreciate it more you will find you taste the flavours even more. Isn’t that a bonus? Don’t forget these energising options are also good for your health. Eating lighter salad type meals in the summer gives your digestive system a well earned break from those winter carbs!

And easy living? Are you stretching out in the park or in your garden, allowing yourself to chill out and forget your cares and worries at least for a little while? Or getting together with friends to relax and laugh. Or take the dog for a long walk. Anything that lets you slow down and unwind is so good for you and your sense of well-being. You can appreciate the delights of summer whilst chilling. Win-win situation!

Let us know if you feel a difference as you become more aware of what is around you. Did it lift your mood and your sense of well-being? What do you do in summer that brings about that sense of well-being? I’m going to sit in the garden and read my book!
