Today is the longest day of the year! The planet is at its closest to the sun before slowly tipping back away from it. Imagine! All this happens without us ever being aware of it!
It also means that Midsummer Day is just a few days away! It seems like only a few weeks ago I was talking about Spring. Well it’s certainly been feeling like summer hasn’t it with this lovely warm weather we’ve had even though it’s been a bit stop/start sometimes.
Have you been taking advantage of the longer warmer evenings (that’s when they have been warmer) and getting out and about? Perhaps sitting out in the garden for your evening meal or taking a stroll round the neighbourhood or maybe even sitting in the park and reading your book?
I always find the sun so energising and those long forgotten jobs in the garden are finally taken on. If you don’t have a garden and want to become involved in growing things you could try an allotment or signup to one of these community outdoor schemes. Anything that gets you out and about, doing some form of exercise and getting some fresh air is so great for your sense of well-being as I have been saying and of course it’s so much easier when we have the weather to encourage us. How about involving the children if you have some? So good to teach them healthy habits at a young age and get them away from the TV or computers.
Maybe you could try some running? There are great apps that talk you through it properly so you don’t injure yourself in any way. Or join an outdoor exercise class.
And how about indulging in those great salads and green leafy vegetables or some of the colourful fruits that are coming into season?
These are all great tips and reminders to really boost your health and well-being during the summer months, developing your fitness levels, increasing your energy levels and give you that inner feeling of happiness, contentment and wellbeing.
What is your favourite summer invigorating habit? Does the sunshine lift your spirits? What kind of pursuits do you fill your summer time with? Do let us know what brings you that lovely sense of well-being in the summer.
