Spring Clean Your Mind!

Last week we touched on letting go of recriminations about not being able to stick to this or that ‘diet’ or fitness program and how that brings down your feelings of well-being.  As it’s Spring it’s always a good time to have a good clear out, not just of your junk and clutter in your house and garden, but also your mind!

Our mind can be our biggest friend or worst enemy. The thoughts we think can send our spirits soaring or bring them crashing down and when that happens our whole world seems dark and gloomy.

We can control our thoughts and like a muscle that’s trained and constantly put to use, our thoughts can also be trained.

Find a quiet place where you can dedicate some time to yourself.  What thoughts and beliefs would you like to let go of? Watch what thoughts come up and if they are of a negative nature simply let them go.

Letting the thought go and not focusing on it allows it to pass through your mind rather than take root in it. Watching it equals detachment. Condemning it, condemning yourself for thinking it and paying it attention allows it to grow and expand.

Instead, when you are letting it go, turn your attention to a nice feeling, something that will make you smile or feel lighter. You will probably have to do this a few times to clear your thoughts, allowing them to drift towards more good feeling thoughts. Don’t berate yourself if you find this difficult at first, remember practice to build up your mental strength. This is the key to your well-being.

Let us know how you got on. Was it easy or difficult? How did you feel afterwards? Remember to congratulate yourself for having a go at this. We’d love to hear your experiences.
