Eat Your Greens!

And reds, oranges and yellows.

We all know we need to eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day. However did you know that thinking amongst nutrition experts has moved onto 7-10 portions a day to keep you healthy?

This is in order to get enough of the vitamins and minerals contained within those fresh fruit and vegetables. You should aim to eat a balance of fruit and vegetables, and of different colours and textures.

Sounds a lot? Try this: you could put 3-4 pieces of fruit and vegetables into a smoothie or juice in the morning. Add to that a salad or vegetable-based soup at lunchtime, plus two or more different portions of vegetables with your dinner. Congratulations, you have reached 7 to 10 portions!

Try out some new combinations and see which you like best. Notice if you feel better from adding more fruit and vegetables to your diet.
