It’s Not Bad to Get Mad

We often think that it’s wrong for us to lose our temper with someone or something.  We are taught as children that it’s bad to feel angry. But anger is a valid emotion and it’s better to feel it than try to repress it.  If we repress it, we are sending a message to ourselves that we are wrong for feeling that way and end up feeling guilty. If we continue to repress it we can feel very disempowered and weak in our lives.

However we don’t want anger to rule our lives either. Lashing out is not good for us or those around us.

The idea is to feel the anger when it arises, acknowledge it and try to let it pass through you by breathing in and letting it go.  By this I mean you can feel angry, know it’s there, take a deep breath and breathe in ‘let’ and breathe out ‘go’.   You may have to do this a few times to get it out of your system.

Looking out for your emotions and being aware of how you are feeling is good for your wellbeing.
